Hormone Replacement with BioTE®

As we age, our bodies naturally begin to reduce the production of hormones like testosterone and estrogen. For women, this drop in estrogen and testosterone occurs with menopause; for men, there is a similar phenomenon relating to testosterone known as andropause. These hormones are incredibly important to the function of the brain, heart, bones, and reproductive organs of both men and women.

Women and men suffering from these and related symptoms can find relief with bioidentical hormone replacement with BioTE®.

What is BioTE?

BioTE is a hormone replacement pellet the size of a grain of rice inserted under the skin into the hip area every 3-5 months to achieve optimal levels of estrogen and/or testosterone in women and men with otherwise suboptimal levels. Pellets dissolve slowly over time and deliver consistent physiologic levels of hormones avoiding the fluctuations that occur with pills, creams, gels, and injections. Most people see results after the first round of pellets, but it may take up to two pellet insertions before experiencing the desired results.

How do I know whether I am a candidate?

After filling out a health assessment questionnaire, a prescription for a blood test to evaluate current hormone levels will be furnished to bring to a laboratory of your choosing.  Once results of the blood tests are available, they will be reviewed and a personalized care plan with our BioTE certified provided will be developed.

Pellet Insertion Procedure:

During an in-office visit, a patient is brought into the procedure room and the pellet insertion site is numbed. A small incision is made and the hormone pellets are inserted. The insertion site is then covered with a small bandage. The pellets will be absorbed by the body over time.

Post-Pellet Insertion Follow-Up:

A lab draw for follow-up will be performed 4-6 weeks following the initial pellet insertion and annually thereafter. Patients who find symptomatic relief typically opt for pellet insertion every 3-4 months for women and every 4-5 months for men.
