What is Aveli?
AVELI is a new, FDA-cleared, minimally invasive procedure to improve the appearance of cellulite on the buttocks and thighs! Aveli is another exciting tool in our cellulite treatment toolbox!
What is Cellulite?
Cellulite affects over 90 percent of all women. Cellulite is a general term that many patients may use to describe texture throughout the legs and buttocks. However, true cellulite dimples are caused by tethers, or septae, under the skin. These septae pull down the skin from underneath to create the appearance of the indentation. For this reason, weight loss, exercise, topical lotions/treatments, and massage cannot help with these dimples. Only treatments which address the septae (like Aveli) will provide long term improvement in the cellulite dimples.
At your consultation, we will discuss whether you have anatomy that may respond well to the Aveli treatment. When it comes to other causes for texture in the buttocks and thighs (like skin laxity or localized excess fat), there are other treatments that can help! We will come up with a treatment plan and recommendations unique to you and your anatomy.
How Does Aveli work?
AVELI is a device which allows the provider to identify the septae within the cellulite which are creating the dimpled appearance. The device will then cut and release each septa within the dimple. This leads to a smoother appearance of the skin. We will then verify and confirm that all of the septae within the dimpled area have been treated before moving onto the next area.
How do I know whether I am a candidate?
After filling out a health assessment questionnaire, a prescription for a blood test to evaluate current hormone levels will be furnished to bring to a laboratory of your choosing. Once results of the blood tests are available, they will be reviewed and a personalized care plan with our BioTE certified provided will be developed.
Am I a candidate for Aveli?
- Patients with individualized, tethered dimples on the buttocks, backs of the thighs, and/or sides of the thighs as well as minimal looseness/laxity in the skin.
- Patients who are interested in a one and done cellulite treatment with long lasting results and little downtime!
What to Expect
You will first have a consultation with the staff at Diehl Plastic Surgery. You will be educated on what exactly is occurring within your anatomy.
For example, do you have tethered dimples?
Do you have laxity in your skin that is contributing to an overall textural irregularity throughout the area?
Do you have fat deposits that are contributing to a textural irregularity?
Understanding these aspects of your anatomy will allow us to decide on the best treatment plan for you!
If you have discrete, tethered cellulite dimples, we will then discuss how the Aveli treatment can benefit you.
The Aveli Procedure
Patients are typically able to drive themselves to and from their procedure appointment. First we will take photos and make markings on each of the dimples that we will be treating. This will also allow the patient to make sure that we did not miss any areas that they would have liked to be treated.
After cleansing and prepping the skin, a numbing medicine will be injected throughout the areas that we will be treating.
Then, the Aveli device will be used to identify the septae within the cellulite. The septae will be released. The device will then be used to verify that the septae within the cellulite dimple were adequately released.
We will then put dressings on the treatment areas, and help the patient put on a compression garment.
