What is CO2 Treatment and How Can It Transform Your Skin

Now that the summer has come to a close, patients and aesthetic providers everywhere are excited for fall…also known as the season of aggressive skin treatments. Whether its fine lines, sun spots, or something else, we’ve got you covered! With cooler weather and less UV radiation from the sun, now is the perfect time to recover from a treatment that can dramatically improve your skin.

However, before someone considers a more aggressive treatment, they should be on a good skin care regimen. This will likely include SPF, a retinol/retinoid, an antioxidant, and something for pigmentation if that is a concern.

Just as we wouldn’t expect to have good dental health by solely going to the dentist every six months and not brushing/flossing your teeth daily, we can’t expect to have healthy skin by doing an aggressive treatment every so often without using a maintenance skin care regimen the rest of the time.

So now that we have healthy skin from an appropriate skincare regimen, maybe we want a boost in achieving our skin goals! That’s where a more aggressive treatment such as a chemical peel, IPL, RF microneedling, microneedling or CO2 laser may come into play. For chemical peels and CO2 lasers especially, it is important to do these at a time that you can keep your skin cool and out of the sun for at least a week depending on the patient and treatment.

If a patient has concerns about sun spots, melasma, or darkened acne scars, CO2 laser or chemical peels are great options. CO2 laser is also great for resurfacing texture of the skin, like scars (acne or other injuries/surgeries), wrinkles, or enlarged pores. Microneedling can also help with textural irregularities and pigmentation. RF microneedling is great for scars and skin tightening. IPL can help with red and brown pigmentation/blood vessels.

As you can see, we have so many amazing options for different types of skin concerns. Each patient is unique, and it is important to have a consultation to determine which of these options would be a good fit for you and your skin concerns. Happy fall y’all!
