Aveli Cellulite Treatment Raleigh NC
Cellulite can be a stubborn and frustrating concern for many adults, showing up as dimples or uneven texture on the thighs and buttocks. Diehl Plastic Surgery offers Avéli, an FDA-cleared, minimally invasive cellulite treatment that directly targets the structural cause of cellulite for smoother, more confident results. Unlike surface-level treatments that temporarily mask symptoms, Avéli works beneath the skin to release the fibrous bands that pull the surface downward and create that dimpled appearance.
Performed in-office under local anesthesia through small access points, Avéli enables precise treatment and minimal downtime, helping patients in the Raleigh-Durham area achieve lasting improvement in skin texture with a single session. Ready to feel more confident in shorts, swimwear, and fitted clothing? Call us at (919) 381-5540 and discover whether Avéli cellulite treatment is right for you.
What is Cellulite? And How Does It Form?
Cellulite is extremely common, affecting more than 90 percent of women at some point in their lives. While the term “cellulite” is often used to describe any uneven texture on the thighs or buttocks, true cellulite dimples form in a very specific way beneath the skin.
Cellulite develops when fibrous connective bands, called septae, attach the skin to deeper tissues. Over time, these bands tighten and pull downward while the surrounding fat pushes upward. This tug-of-war creates the characteristic dimpling or puckering seen on the skin’s surface. Because the issue is structural, weight loss, exercise, topical products, massage, and creams cannot release these tethers or permanently improve the appearance of true cellulite dimples. Long-term improvement requires a treatment that directly targets and releases the septae, which is precisely how Avéli works.
During your consultation, we will carefully evaluate your anatomy to determine whether Avéli is the right solution for your specific type of cellulite. Not all texture concerns are caused by septae alone. Factors such as skin laxity, uneven fat distribution, or volume loss can also affect the appearance of the buttocks and thighs. If those concerns are present, other treatments may be recommended. Our goal is to create a personalized treatment plan tailored to your body, anatomy, and aesthetic goals for the most effective, natural-looking results.
What Is Aveli?
Avéli is a new, FDA-cleared, minimally invasive procedure designed to improve the appearance of cellulite on the buttocks and thighs by targeting the structural cause beneath the skin. Rather than temporarily smoothing the surface, Avéli works by releasing the fibrous bands that cause visible dimpling, allowing the skin to appear smoother and more even.
As one of the latest advancements in cellulite treatment, Avéli is an exciting addition to our treatment toolbox. This in-office procedure is performed with precision, typically requires minimal downtime, and is designed to deliver long-lasting improvement in skin texture with a single treatment. It offers an effective option for patients looking for noticeable cellulite reduction without surgery or extended recovery.
How Does Aveli Work?
Avéli is a specialized device that precisely identifies the fibrous bands, known as septae, that cause the dimpled appearance of true cellulite. During treatment, the provider uses the device to locate these tight connective bands beneath the skin that are pulling the surface downward and creating visible indentations.
Once identified, the Avéli device carefully cuts and releases each septa responsible for the dimple. By freeing the skin from these underlying tethers, the surface is able to smooth out and settle into a more even appearance. The provider then verifies that all targeted septae within the treated dimple have been fully released before moving on to the next area. This meticulous, methodical approach allows for precise treatment of each cellulite dimple, helping achieve consistent, long-lasting improvement in skin texture across the buttocks and thighs.
How Do I Know Whether I Am a Candidate?
After filling out a health assessment questionnaire, a prescription for a blood test to evaluate current hormone levels will be furnished to bring to a laboratory of your choosing. Once results of the blood tests are available, they will be reviewed and a personalized care plan with our BioTE certified provided will be developed.

What to Expect During Cellulite Reduction
Your journey begins with a personalized consultation at Diehl Plastic Surgery, where our experienced team takes the time to fully evaluate your anatomy and educate you on what is truly causing the appearance of cellulite or texture concerns. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, we focus on understanding the underlying structures beneath your skin so we can recommend the most effective treatment approach.
During your consultation, we assess several key factors. We determine whether you have true, tethered cellulite dimples caused by fibrous septae pulling the skin downward. We also evaluate skin laxity, which can contribute to a more generalized uneven or crepey texture in the buttocks or thighs. In addition, we look for localized fat deposits that may be affecting contour and surface smoothness. Each of these concerns requires a different strategy, and identifying the source is essential for achieving meaningful results.
By understanding how these elements work together in your unique anatomy, we can create a treatment plan tailored specifically to you. If your primary concern is discrete, tethered cellulite dimples, we will discuss how the Avéli treatment can effectively target and release those bands to improve skin smoothness. If other factors are contributing, we may recommend complementary or alternative treatments to ensure the best possible outcome.
The Aveli Procedure
Patients are typically able to drive themselves to and from their procedure appointment. First we will take photos and make markings on each of the dimples that we will be treating. This will also allow the patient to make sure that we did not miss any areas that they would have liked to be treated.
After cleansing and prepping the skin, a numbing medicine will be injected throughout the areas that we will be treating.
Then, the Aveli device will be used to identify the septae within the cellulite. The septae will be released. The device will then be used to verify that the septae within the cellulite dimple were adequately released.
We will then put dressings on the treatment areas, and help the patient put on a compression garment.
